Raid and LVM  Information about LVM and RAID support.

1   Need to get started

You will need a install CD and an extension disk. I have used the Blade XFS install CD from http://people.debian.org/~blade/XFS-Install/ and his RAID and LVM extension disks from http://people.debian.org/~blade/install/lvm/xfs-fork

2   Documentation

I have modified the Root on LVM on RAID documentation from http://www.midhgard.it/docs/index_en.html. The things that I have added is highlighted in yellow.

Open Office XML File in OpenOffice.org XML format.   PostScript File in PS format.
PDF File in PDF format.      

3   Recommended disc structure

To create a server of different types I have used the following structure:

For servers that are extremely critical var and swap might be on its own partitions without LVM. On the other hand I have not had any problems with LVM so far.
