1   Description

This is my new computer. It will mainly be my workstation and used for development. I bought it to reduce the compile time.

CPU 2 (dual) Intel Pentium III Coppermine 850 (@939) Mhz (100 (+10) MHz bus)
RAM512 Mb SDRAM, PC-133
Hard disk

80 GB Samsung

10 GB

Other labdiscs

Floppy 2 x 3,5"
1 x 5,25" (not connected since some time ago)
CD

CD-rom 32x (on wrong bus type so not working)
HP CD-writer 9700 series

GraphicsMatrox MGA-G450 AGP (32Mb) dual head
Sound

SoundBlaster Live, PCI
Good sound and good support in Linux. There is one problem that I have heard of and that is that it does not work very well with DVD:s. That is because it can only play sound with x frames per second and the DVD frames is a few more.

Network

Intel Ethernet Express Pro 100 (with netboot capability).

Scanner

Primax Colorado Direct (300/600). It has a parallell port connection an (unofficial) linux support through the Primax Sourceforge project. The linux drivers can only scan whole pages and not with a very good resolution, but it is better than the windows drivers that crash Windows 2000 entirely.

Printer OKIPAGE 4m (not working)
Monitor ADI 17" (TCO 99)
Chassi

Chieftec DX-01B-D Dragon Super MidiTower Black 300W silent! ATX (AMD and P4 OK)

Keyboard IBM

4   Debian GNU/Linux

Release: sarge (testing) with some packages from unstable/sid.

EditorEmacs21, openoffice.org (1.1)
Window Mangagersawfish
Window EnvironmentGnome and sometimes KDE if I feel like I want to test something new.
ICQGnomeicu
PalmGnome-pilot to sync the palm-pilot (not anymore).

5   Windows

Version: Windows 95 version 2 and not working, not used for a long while. Actually I have installed Windows 98 because I wanted to play some games. That installation is on a separate hard disc that I switch to (switch power supply) manually. They are both primary IDE controllers because else Windows 98 can wipe out the linux partiaions...

6   FreeBSD/other

This is my lab machine so I have tested some other OS:es. Recently I have installed FreeBSD 4.8. I used a too small disc so I have to test later with a bigger one.
